Legacy Fund accepting applications for grants to support sustainable projects in Oxford

The spring deadline for community non-profit applications is May 31, 2019

The Future Oxford Legacy Fund is now accepting applications from non-profit groups and community organizations that need financial support to develop sustainable initiatives in Oxford. To apply, interested groups must have a sustainable business model and be seeking funding for a project that will support the goals in the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan.

Community Futures Oxford administers the community fund by accepting, screening and assessing applications. This year, grant applications will be accepted in two intakes, once in the spring, and again in the fall. Applications for the spring intake are due by May 31, 2019.

In addition to non-repayable loans for non-profit groups, the Future Oxford Legacy Fund also offers year-round “Access to Capital” funding for entrepreneurial activities. Successful applicants, including private businesses, can receive financing up to $100,000 through a repayable loan with flexible repayment terms. Priority sectors include youth entrepreneurship and employment, arts, culture, tourism, high-tech manufacturing, green technology, and locally grown and processed agriculture products.

To ensure requests for funding and investment meet the goals, objectives and targets of the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan, a multi-criteria assessment tool is used to determine if a project or proposal supports a sustainable future. The tool uses a weighted “sustainability score card” to assess or compare community, economy and environment factors.

The Future Oxford Legacy Fund is a partnership between Oxford County, Future Oxford Partnership and Community Futures Oxford.

Individuals or organizations interested in applying for funding through the Future Oxford Legacy Fund should visit www.cfoxford.ca to access the application. For more information about Future Oxford visit www.futureoxford.ca.

Quick Facts

Sustainability is an approach to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. It takes into account the short and long-term ecological, social, and economic consequences of our actions and emphasizes both environmental and human well-being as essential ends in themselves. Oxford has adopted the lens of sustainability to create an integrated and effective approach to addressing challenges, including economic and social inequities, human health, ecosystem decline, and community development.
