Cheers to our volunteers!

Message from the Future Oxford Partnership

We’ve been quiet for a while, and we still need a bit more time, but rest assured the Future Oxford Plan is as important as it has ever been. Balancing our collective community wellbeing, economic vibrancy, and environmental leadership would not be what it is without the support of Oxford's many volunteers.

The Future Oxford Partnership has been working in the background to update the Community Sustainability Plan that was created through extensive community engagement in 2015. As with any robust sustainability plan, it must remain relevant to be effective.

The Partnership is collaboratively updating the original Plan, keeping with all of its principles and intent, to ensure that it continues to address the needs of today, and tomorrow. The goals of high quality of life, economic vibrancy, and protected and restored ecosystems remain important as ever.

This approach is right in line with the methodical approach of plan-do-check-act. The Partnership is focused on the opportunities, challenges, and ideas that have emerged since developing the first Plan, with a keen desire to make sure the Plan continues to serve as a “rally cry” for our communities, expressed in bite-sized, easy-to-understand calls to action.

As the original Plan was created by volunteers, so too is the Plan being “refreshed” by volunteers.

Ever a work-in-progress, we don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to thank all of the volunteers – past, present, and future – who work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in Oxford by advancing the Plan. While we may not be able to celebrate in person, let us celebrate National Volunteer Week in Canada by thanking volunteers throughout all of Oxford in a safe and responsible manner. Stay tuned for more in the coming months! #CheersToVolunteers #NVW2020
